VISUAL FIELDS

The visual field is the entire area (field of vision) that can be seen when the eyes are focused on a single point. The visual field includes what can be seen above, below, and to either side of the point the eyes are focused on. Vision is typically the sharpest in the middle of the visual field.

Our advanced computerized visual field testing equipment easily and quickly tests the sensitivity of your central and peripheral retina. This test is used to diagnose and monitor the progression of glaucoma and macular degeneration.

It can also detect optic nerve or brain changes due to stroke, poor circulation, brain tumors and toxicity from medications such as Plaquenil, a rheumatoid arthritis drug. Retinitis pigmentosa and peripheral retinal detachment and degeneration can also be detected with a visual fields test.
